Hooked- by Nir Eyal
Today I started reviewing Nir Eyal’s forthcoming book “Hooked: How to drive engagement by creating user habits”. I am one of the contributors to the book and so far I have to say it’s a very interesting read.
Nir Eyal is an educator, author, and entrepreneur. He’s a renowned ‘web psychologist’ who explores the field of behaviour engineering as he calls it. He focuses more on influencing user behaviours when it comes to technologies and businesses.
I am half way through the book so far, the book focuses more on users’ behaviours on the internet and how habits are formed, or more accurately designed by businesses to create user engagement. He shares a lot of examples of current social networks and various online platforms to explain a habit forming behaviour model, and he also provides various psychology references as an explanation for how our minds work when it comes to habitual behaviours. Which is extremely interesting since it highly correlates with my current work.
Looking forward to reading the rest of the book!
